In April 2024, Peru experienced a significant increase in chestnut exports, with a total of 822 tons making their way to 21 different countries. This marks an 82% increase in volume and a stunning 103% increase in value compared to the same time period in the previous year. The average price per kilogram of chestnuts also rose by 11.4% to $6.3, resulting in a total export value of $5.2 million. South Korea and the United States emerged as the leading importers, accounting for 23% and 21.9% of the total exports, respectively. Germany rounded out the top three. This surge in chestnut exports underscores Peru's growing presence in the global market, with various companies contributing to the demand.
