Between January and August 2024, Peruvian capsicum exports saw a 5% decrease, totaling US$ 184,344,000, with the majority of exports being dried capsicum (57%) and most of them sent to the United States (39%). The decline is attributed to rising prices and the presence of cheaper competitors like China. The Capsicum Committee of the Association of Exporters (ADEX) is planning the I Capsicum Business Meeting in November to address these challenges and explore new opportunities. The event will cover various aspects of the capsicum industry, including its national panorama, cultivation, safety and health, technology and innovation, and trends and markets.
