In the first half of 2024, Paraná, Brazil, achieved the second-best performance in its pork export history, with a shipment of 79,000 tons to 70 countries, just shy of the record set in the same period in 2023. Despite a slight decrease in exports to countries like Hong Kong, Argentina, Uruguay, and Albania, growth was observed in markets such as Vietnam, Georgia, Angola, Cuba, Ivory Coast, and the Dominican Republic, a new importer in 2024. Paraná's pork exports to the Dominican Republic reached 1,400 tons, making it the country's second-largest supplier of pork from Brazil. The state is also working to further increase pork exports, following its recent certification as a Foot and Mouth Disease Free Area without Vaccination by the World Organization for Animal Health, and is exploring trade possibilities with China. Brazil also saw a 2% increase in pork exports in the first half of 2024, reaching 590,000 tons.
