Potato prices rise again in Ukraine

This week, the potato market in Ukraine has seen an increase in trading and purchasing activity. Industry experts note that, given the increasing demand, farmers continue to raise selling prices in this segment. This was reported by EastFruit analysts. Thus, as of December 13, Ukrainian farmers are already declaring prices for potatoes in the range of 22-30 UAH/kg ($0.53-0.72/kg), which is on average 22% more expensive than a week earlier. “Market operators attribute the increase in trading activity in this segment to the increased interest of wholesale companies and retail chains, which have already begun to build up stocks for the New Year holidays. At the same time, they do not exclude the possibility of further price increases in this segment, but admit that a sharp increase in prices should not be expected,” analysts note.
