The Peruvian Ministry of Production has imposed a 28-day reproductive ban on hake (Merluccius gayi peruanus) in the national maritime domain between 04 ° 30'S and 05 ° 00'S, effective from April 11. The measure aims to safeguard the hake population during the spawning period. The ban will forbid the extraction of hake from the specified area, although hake already extracted can be processed within 48 hours. The Artisanal fleet authorized by Ministerial Resolution No. 317-2019-Produce is exempted from the ban and will be monitored by the Peruvian Sea Institute (Imarpe) and the Ministry of Production.
