The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam has issued a directive to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, demanding the inspection and registration of all fishing vessels in the province. The directive aims to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as painting, marking, and registration of fishing vessels. It also includes a list of non-compliant vessels that have been deregistered and requires the monitoring of unqualified fishing vessels. The ministry has also highlighted the need for enforcement against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing and the implementation of an electronic seafood tracking system (eCDT) at fishing ports. Additionally, it has called for detailed record-keeping by businesses in the fisheries sector.
