The Brazilian rice market in Rio Grande do Sul saw a decrease in prices in February, continuing a recent trend, with a 50-kilogram bag quoted at R$84.09, showing a weekly drop of 0.96% and a monthly decrease of 9.08%. Harvesting activities are beginning to ramp up, putting downward pressure on prices, and 6% of the rice harvest has been reached in Rio Grande do Sul. Approximately 115.7 thousand tons of rice were shipped in February from Brazilian ports, with the main destinations being Venezuela, Senegal, Costa Rica, and Mexico.
