In recent days, baseless, misleading, and completely unfounded claims have been spreading on social media and some unofficial media channels in the Republic of Turkey that the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has deliberately closed animal markets to "pave the way" for the spread and imposition of so-called artificial meat, using the foot-and-mouth disease as a pretext. In an official statement from the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture, it is said that these claims are completely fabricated, not based on any facts, and distort reality, misleading the public and undermining confidence in the veterinary and sanitary measures aimed at protecting animal and public health.
