Russia's agricultural watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, is imposing a ban on the import of sunflower and corn seeds from Chile, Turkey, Hungary, and France with effect from December 13 (Chile) and December 16 (Turkey, France, and Hungary). The move is in response to the risk of quarantine issues, specifically sunflower phomopsis, corn leaf spot, and brown marmorated stink bug, posing a threat to Russia and the EAEU member countries. The decision aligns with the International Convention for the Quarantine and Protection of Plants and the federal law "On Plant Quarantine."
