Sales of peanut oil and sesame oil in Magway Region, Myanmar, have declined.

Currently, the price of peanut oil is around 1.8 million Myanmar kyat per zaat (approximately 1.6 kilograms), and sesame oil is sold at about 1.5 million Myanmar kyat per zaat. At this time of year, crops from the rainy season, such as peanuts and sesame, are about to hit the market, so the prices of peanut oil and sesame oil are gradually decreasing. Although the prices of these two oils have dropped by about 1 million Myanmar kyat per zaat compared to last month, sales continue to decline due to low consumer demand.

U Win Thun, the Secretary of the Magway Oil Mill Entrepreneurs Association, stated that if there are still no export orders after the crop harvest, and it is only for domestic consumption, the oil prices may drop further.

Peanut oil and sesame oil produced in Magway province are mainly sold to Yangon, Mawlamyine, Pathein, and Taunggyi. Currently, due to weak regional consumer demand, the operation of local oil mills is also rather sluggish.
