Samcheok City, conducting on-site agricultural machinery repair 163 times... timely farming support

(Samcheok=Yonhap News) Reporter Yoo Hyeong-jae = Samcheok City, Gangwon Province, will launch a full-scale operation of agricultural machinery mobile repair and technical training starting from the 3rd to alleviate the inconvenience of remote-residing farmers caused by agricultural machinery breakdowns and to enhance their self-maintenance capabilities. As of the end of December last year, the number of agricultural machinery units owned in the area totals 5,200. However, due to the aging of the rural population, it is difficult to quickly repair agricultural machinery when they break down. Accordingly, it plans to implement 144 rounds of mobile repair, 19 rounds of emergency repair, and concurrent technical training. The schedule for the mobile repair will be organized by comprehensively considering the status of agricultural machinery owned by each town and village and the conditions of the villages, and dedicated personnel will visit villages directly to conduct maintenance and education. In addition to the mobile repair schedule, the plan includes receiving breakdown complaints to implement emergency repairs and supporting agricultural machinery rental businesses to strengthen on-site response systems. The training will focus on the repair and maintenance of small to medium-sized agricultural machinery such as tractors and mowers, including analysis of breakdown causes, maintenance tips, inspection methods by model, and safety usage guidelines. The plan also includes securing repair parts and providing free parts costing 200,000 won or less per model to reduce the burden on farmers. Last year, the city conducted a total of 203 rounds of mobile repair training. It recorded 4,839 units of repair and maintenance, 2,776 people for on-site education, and 140 million won in support for agricultural machinery parts for farmers. Director Yoo Ho-mo of the Rural Support Division said, "Through mobile repair and technical training for agricultural machinery, we will reduce the inconvenience of farmers and create a safe farming environment" and "We will enhance the self-maintenance capabilities of farmers to provide substantial help for stable agricultural management."
