A field in Iksan-si, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea, has successfully harvested 'powdered rice' of the yellow-ripe Bunjilmi variety, three and a half months after planting. This variety, also known as Baromi 2, is praised for its low production cost, lack of uniformity issues, and suitability for double cropping with wheat. The Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Hwang-geun Jeong, and other officials were present at the harvest and expressed interest in expanding support for the production of powdered rice. CEOs of agricultural cooperatives and bakeries have also voiced plans to increase cultivation and production of the rice, hoping for government support to improve price competitiveness. Minister Jeong has announced plans to promote the consumption of powdered rice through the sharing of recipes from November.
