Should we expect an increase in prices for walnut kernels in Moldova?

In January, at first glance, small but important changes took place on the Moldovan walnut market. Firstly, by the middle of this month the supply of inshell nuts had dropped to almost zero. According to representatives of the Association of Nut Crops Producers of the Republic of Moldova, a few specialized agricultural enterprises have small batches of high-quality (even Chandler) inshell nuts - within a few tens of tons. However, these manufacturers intend to sell this product under direct contracts with European buyers. To the domestic market, i.e. local traders-exporters will most likely not receive the marketable remains of last year's varietal nuts in shell, EastFruit reports. Secondly, according to experts from the industry association, exporters have run out of reserves of nut kernels, which they had accumulated for sale on the eve of the winter holidays.
