Spain has evaluated the positive results of the EU agreement on fishing quotas. In the Atlantic, the catch of hake will increase and that of mackerel will decrease. The European Union (EU) Fisheries Ministers closed an agreement during the early hours of this Saturday to set fishing opportunities in the Atlantic community waters that includes maintaining the quota for hake and reductions for halibut and sole. "A great piece of data is undoubtedly the maintenance of the hake quota at 10,982 tonnes, which represents practically two-thirds of the total European hake," explained this morning at a press conference the Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas.
