The Spanish wine sector is already exploring options in the Indian market, where Australia and Italy are the main suppliers, according to a report by the Interprofessional of Spanish Wine (OIVE). This week, after 18 years of negotiations, the EU and India have signed a trade agreement that allows companies from EU countries access to over 1.4 billion consumers. This pact, which foresees eliminating or reducing tariffs on 96.6% of EU goods exports, would save Spanish companies 4 billion euros annually in tariffs. In particular, wine, which had a tariff of 150% in India, will see its tariff drop to 20% for the premium range and 30% for the mid-range. In this context and for now, Spain is the ninth supplier in value to India with 0.5 million euros and the eighth in volume with 0.2 million liters during the last rolling year up to November 2025. This means that currently, Spanish wines do not yet have a relevant presence, however, the sector is optimistic about the new opportunities. ...
