South Korea has launched an expansion of its low-carbon livestock certification system to include pigs and dairy cows, following its successful implementation with Korean beef. This initiative, aimed at recognizing farms that have adopted carbon reduction technologies, has seen 162 farms earn this certification, with notable greenhouse gas reductions of 17.2% for Hanwoo cattle, 29% for pigs, and 18% for dairy farms. The government is planning to increase the number of certified farms to 221 by the end of the year, despite challenges such as potential increased costs for farmers and the need to establish more sales channels for these products.
