From January to September of 2022, Peru's strawberry exports saw an 8% increase in volume and a 1% increase in value, totaling 14,240 tons valued at US$27 million. Despite challenges like climatic conditions and transportation, the growth is attributed to an increase in planting areas, which has led to a significant rise in strawberry export volumes since 2007, with a notable dip from 2015 to 2017 due to competition from Mexico and Chile. Since 2018, exports have consistently grown, reaching a record 32,405 tons in 2021. The United States and Canada are the primary markets for these exports. Despite a slight drop in prices in the first half of 2022, it is anticipated that prices will increase slightly by the end of the year due to lower production in Mexico and the United States.
