The Hungarian strawberry season has started a few days later than usual due to a slightly cooler spring, but with good flowering and harvest prospects. Many producers are already selling their strawberries, despite fewer goods on the market than usual due to both local frost damage and reduced import pressure from the Mediterranean region. Domestic growers have managed to sell their strawberries at good prices, despite increased production costs, and the quality of Hungarian strawberries is expected to be high this year. The season is dominated by the Clery, Joly, and Asia varieties, and it is hoped that the annual import of around 3,500 tons will be less decisive, allowing domestic growers to close the season well.
