The European Commission's report forecasts a decrease in the EU's meat consumption per capita due to sustainability concerns, with a projected decline to 67.6 kg by 2030. Beef consumption is expected to decrease by 0.9 kg per capita, and pork production is predicted to drop by 1 million tonnes (-4.6%) between 2020 and 2030. Sheep and goat production and consumption are expected to remain stable, while poultry production is the only meat category expected to increase during the Covid-19 pandemic, reaching 24.6 kg per capita by 2030.
