A recent sector meeting in Turkey, organized by the Aydın Commodity Exchange (ATB), focused on the challenges facing the dried fig industry, especially in Aydın, a leading global producer. The meeting highlighted the impacts of climate crisis and extreme heat on fig production and discussed the difficulties in obtaining agricultural insurance. Solutions to increase the added value of products and create new markets were discussed, including e-commerce, branding, and warehousing. The meeting also sought support for a cold storage facility investment and discussed the effects of new regulations on exporting companies. Aydın is known for its production of 204 thousand tons of figs on 38 thousand hectares, making it the country's leader in fig production.
