The Indonesian government is collaborating with universities to find tubers that are resistant to extreme weather changes in Puncak Regency, Central Papua, to prevent future famines caused by drought. The Ministry of Agriculture and several universities will work together to identify root crops that can withstand anomalous weather conditions. The current weather anomalies, such as ice fog and snow dew, have caused the tubers in the area to rot, leading to a lack of food and cases of diarrhea and death.
