The Spanish mango sector has seen a 20% increase in production, while avocado yield is expected to be 25-30% lower due to unfavorable weather conditions. The Spanish Tropical Fruit Association is looking to compensate the shortage by sourcing avocados from Morocco. The consumption of fruit and vegetables, including avocados, has decreased, leading to sales difficulties. However, prices are expected to be good and the quality of Spanish avocados is increasingly appreciated in Europe. Besides avocados and mangoes, other subtropical fruits like chermoya, papaya, pitahaya, and prickly pear are becoming more important in Spain's fruit market.
