The Ministry of Agriculture in Poland has announced the start of the autumn agricultural insurance sales campaign, with the sales starting on October 1. The ministry has increased the pool of funds for subsidies to agricultural insurance to PLN 900 million for this year. Farmers are required to have an insurance policy for 50% of their cultivated area to be eligible for full state aid in case of unfavorable weather conditions. The state subsidizes up to 65% of the insurance premium, and the maximum sums insured for each year are specified in the ordinance of the Minister of Agriculture. The insurance covers various crops and farm animals from risks such as hurricane, flood, hail, and drought, and farmers can conclude insurance contracts with seven insurance companies.
