Peru is becoming known for its high-quality coffee production, particularly of Arabica varieties, due to its geographical conditions and sustainable farming practices. The country is the largest exporter of organic coffee and the first to supply Fairtrade-certified coffee to the European Union. This has been facilitated by the Central Café y Cacao del Perú and the Taza da Excelencia award. Consumption of coffee in Peru has doubled in the last five years, with a growing preference for specialty coffees, leading to an increase in coffee shops and small roasters. The country is also experiencing a rise in interest in coffee farming among the younger generation, driven by quality-focused courses and awards.
