The price of tomato commodities in Indonesia has dropped during the harvest season due to weak purchasing power caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The current price is significantly lower than the production cost. The Ministry of Agriculture is helping farmers by absorbing and distributing their produce to the Mitra Tani Market at a higher price. The ministry is also absorbing chili production, which is also experiencing a price drop due to oversupply and low demand. The demand for horticultural commodities has decreased due to the closure of hotels, restaurants, and catering industries.
