On January 13, 2021, the vegetable market in Egypt saw an increase in prices, with tomatoes ranging from 2.5 to 3.5 pounds and potatoes priced at 3.5 pounds. Other vegetables such as peas, beans, eggplants, cucumbers, peppers, zucchini, carrots, and cabbage also experienced price hikes. Fruit prices remained stable, with strawberries, apples, dates, grapes, cantaloupe, mango, pear, mandarin oranges, figs, and white oranges available at varied prices. In the El Obour market, the market saw further price increases for wholesale trade, with tomato cages priced between 45 to 75 pounds, potatoes ranging from 100 to 250 piasters, and baladi eggplants priced between 100 to 200 piasters.
