In the first quarter of 2022, Turkey experienced a significant boost in honey exports, with a 162% increase in quantity and a 79% increase in value compared to the same period in 2021. The total export revenue for the quarter was $11.30 million, based on 4,421 tons of honey sold to 42 countries. The USA, Germany, Spain, Israel, and Poland were the top buyers. This surge in exports is attributed to the diversity in export destinations and the growing trend of branded honey products. The Eastern Black Sea Exporters' Association is optimistic, expecting further growth in 2022, particularly with the anticipation of snowfalls improving the natural cover for bees and enhancing honey production. They emphasize the importance of marketing honey based on its floral source and with high-quality packaging to further boost exports.
