UGT calls for the elimination of the required workdays to claim the agricultural subsidy following the floods.

The general secretary of UGT FICA Andalusia, José Manuel Rodríguez, has called on the central government for urgent and exceptional measures for farm workers in the wake of the floods, such as the elimination of the 35 workdays and the 53 required to apply for the agrarian subsidy and the agrarian income. He explained that "the halting of campaigns, the impossibility of accessing flooded farms, and the crops that cannot be harvested are causing a direct loss of agrarian employment" and stated that "thousands of rural families cannot be left without protection." The secretary of the agri-food sector of UGT-A, Emilio Terrón Ruiz, pointed out that "in an exceptional situation, exceptional responses are required" and also demanded the urgent modification of Social Security regulations so that, during this extraordinary period, it is not mandatory to meet 30 workdays in the previous twelve months to remain registered in the agrarian census.
