Due to the pandemic, Ukraine's walnut kernel exports have faced challenges, with a decrease in demand from Turkey and the EU. Consequently, the country has had to seek alternative markets, with the UK emerging as a significant buyer, resulting in a 3.6-fold increase in imports in the first seven months of the year. Despite the high quality and safety standards of the UK market, the volume of exports to the UK remains low at around 1.5%, with Turkey still being the primary market. Purchases by France, the Netherlands, and other countries have increased, while exports to Iraq have significantly dropped. Overall, Ukraine's walnut kernel exports were down by 21% in the first seven months of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, totaling 18.7 thousand tons.
