In 2020, Turkey saw a significant increase in avocado production, with a 40.5% rise compared to the previous year, reaching 5,917 tons. Over the last five years, production has tripled, contrasted with 1,950 tons in 2016. The country's avocado exports have also surged, with a value of $ 1.48 million in 2020, a remarkable 17 times the $ 464 recorded in 2016. The exports were distributed to 34 countries, with Russia being the leading importer. The head of the Chamber of Agriculture of the Kemer district of Antalya, Nazif Alp, emphasized the growing demand for avocados and the interest in its cultivation among farmers.
