A man in Ben Tre province, Vietnam, has successfully grown a variety of breast milk fruit that does not produce latex and can be eaten with the skin when ripe. This variety, called MiCA purple milk breast, is easy to grow, has few pests and diseases, and good salt tolerance. The owner of Ngoc Vinh seedling production facility in Ben Tre province has protected the variety's brand name by the Department of Intellectual Property - Ministry of Science and Technology. An enterprise has signed a contract to export the fruit to Europe, and farmers who grow the variety will be supported with 40% of the seedling cost until the fruit is collected.
