The Vietnam Cassava Association has expressed concerns to the People's Committee of Phu Yen province about the proposed investment in new cassava processing plants, citing potential raw material shortages and negative impacts on existing factories and jobs. The association warns of a region-wide raw material imbalance due to disease and limited fresh cassava supplies, with two Phu Yen factories currently operating at 60% capacity due to these issues. They recommend that new plants should only be established after identifying raw material areas, in line with the conclusions of Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam. The association also emphasizes the importance of investing in value-added deep processing of cassava, with a leading company ready to expand in Phu Yen if permitted.
