Vietnam imported over 97 thousand tons of cashews in January, an increase of 6.4% in volume but a significant 65.7% increase in value compared to the same period last year, with the total value reaching over 172 million USD. The average price per ton was 1,765 USD, a 56% increase from January 2024. Tanzania was the largest supplier, followed by Indonesia and Ivory Coast. However, cashew nut exports in the first two months of 2025 saw a decrease of 31.8% in volume and 13.7% in value compared to the same period in 2024, with the United States, the Netherlands, and China being the three largest consuming markets in Vietnam. Experts attribute the fluctuation in cashew prices to supply chain disruptions and a decrease in imported raw cashew output, leading to a smaller crop area.
