In W39 in the grape landscape, global grape exports have decreased by 5% year-over-year (YoY) in the 2022/23 season but are still growing. Many countries are changing how they produce grapes to meet demand and work more efficiently. Green seedless grapes are becoming more popular, increasing demand. Grapes are essential in global trade, and despite the 5% dip, this season is the second-highest ever for grape exports, just behind the 2021/22 season. Experts from Rabobank believe that increasing exports will continue for years.

Some grape-producing countries are facing challenges because of unpredictable weather. Chile's grape exports dropped by 18% YoY due to the removal of low-yielding areas and other changes to improve profits over the previous ten seasons. Meanwhile, Peru became the biggest exporter in the 2022/23 season, shipping nearly 600 thousand tons, even though there were issues like political protests affecting logistics in early 2023.

Furthermore, Peru's table grape exports increased by 223.33% from September 1 to 17, 2023. The increase previews the 2023/24 campaign, which started in October and will last until Mar-24. Hurricane Hilary affected California's production, prompting the United States (US) market to demand Peruvian grapes at favorable prices. Piura saw a 318.5% increase in grape exports, Lambayeque saw a 44% growth, and Arequipa saw a 124.31% increase. Ica, the main exporting region, still needs to be added to the current campaign but is expected to grow. The 2023/24 grape campaign will likely increase in volume and value due to higher prices.

Additionally, Peru has successfully exported its first grapes to Japan, with 25 tons of Alison variety shipped from Paita to Yokohama. The export is expected to reach the Japanese market within 28 days. Peru's health protocol allows the export of 26 grape varieties to Japan, with an estimated potential of USD 17 million. The Peruvian Commercial Office in Japan facilitates commercial meetings between Japanese importers and Peruvian exporters.
