Rain Hampers Onion Harvest in the South of Brazil (Dec 2)
Rainy weather in the region of Ituporanga and Climatempo forecasts that the rain will continue until Sunday, December 4th. According to sources, the harvest was affected by the precipitation. As a result, bulbs stored before the rain's arrival had a better output. After the rains, the number of dried onions available for sale decreased.
Hungary
In Hungary, in 2022, 910 hectares of spring-sown and 383 hectares of autumn-sown or overwintering red onions will be cultivated. The producing area is constantly decreasing in the 2010s, except for a few years showing a small or large temporary increase, and overwintering red onion is approximately the same compared to previous years. Due to the relatively stable market in early June and spring weather is favorable for cultivation. In the last 5-6 years, the use of hybrid varieties, which have higher yield potential, has become common.

Shortage of Onions in the Philippines (Dec 2)
In the Philippines, retail prices of onions could reach USD 7.23/kg due to shortages. A Philippine chairman recommended the Ministry of Agriculture to import at least 7,000 tons of white onions and 7,500 tons of red onions to address the onion supply shortage.
Ukraine
Less Supply Causes Onion Prices to Rise in Ukraine (Dec 2)
After a short period of stability, onion prices in Ukraine have started to increase. The price increase was primarily due to a limited supply of onions. Most producers who do not have their own storage facilities have already completed sales this season. During W48, growers offer high-quality onions at USD 0.62-0.73/kg, an average increase of 15% compared to W47.
