Price Update of Egyptian Lane Late Navel and Valencia Oranges in the Brazil Market During W10 (Feb 25)

In W10, the varieties of Egyptian fresh table oranges offered to the Brazilian market are Lane Late Navel and Valencia. The average price stood at USD 13/15kg box for class 1, and for Valencia, the average was at USD 11-11.50/15 kg box for class 1 and USD 10-10.50/15kg box for class 2. The Brazilian market prefers Navel varieties, and it has added value. However, the market sells Navels and Valencia in the same category as imported oranges. This characteristic makes Valencia more competitive compared to Lane Late, making room for more imports of Valencia fresh table oranges.

China

In China, three containers of Egyptian Valencia oranges of average quality went on sale on February 17, 2023. The opening price stood at USD 17.50-18.96/15kg carton (RMB 120-130/15kg carton) for 56/64 (pcs). The market's response has not been favorable, and sales are moving extremely slowly.

On February 21, 2023, four containers of Egyptian Navel oranges were opened in the Guangzhou market. The opening prices stood at USD 16.74-17.46/15kg carton (RMB 115-120/15kg carton) for sizes 56 and 64 (pieces). Even though the prices were low, the arrival quality was not bad, but the sales movement was slow.

American Citrus Farmers Able to Recharge Aquifers During W8 (Feb 25)

Excessive rains in late December and the first half of January 2023 have made producers unable to build a recharge basin fast enough to recharge underground aquifers. In W8, irrigation districts released excess water, and farmers had the opportunity to direct the resource to their recharge basins, earning credits for future use and recharging aquifers.

In Iran, the export volume of apples and oranges has been limited until the end of March 2023, according to Moharram Soltani, head of the Export Development Office of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad. If this decision is accompanied by the supply and regulation of the domestic market with the stabilization of the correct price, there will be a chance for an appeal.

Nepal

Parbat, Nepal Exports Oranges Worth Around USD 2.263M (Feb 20)

Orange production in the Parbat district has increased by 25% compared to 2022, with 5KMT of oranges exported. Senior Agriculture Development Officer Manita Thapa said the Parbat district earned as much as USD 2.240M (NPR 297M) from exporting oranges. Oranges produced in the Parbat district are sold in Pokhara, Kathmandu, and Butwal, and favorable weather is one of the reasons behind the increase in orange production.
