In April 2023, the Cearense Thaiti lemon will export to Canada. The first export will be 20T, which will use a 20ft container. The cultivation of lemons occupies 10ha of Fazenda Terra Santa in Santa Quitéria.

Chile

Chile Forecast an Increase of Lemon Production in the 2022/23 Season (Mar 3)

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported citrus categories are forecasted to experience a decline in global production in the 2022/23 season due to adverse weather events and rising agricultural input costs. The lemon production in Chile is expected to increase by 60KT to 200KT due to an expansion in area and favorable weather conditions, anticipated to lead to a rise in available supply and a two-thirds increase in exports, with the United States remaining the primary export market.

World Production of Lemons and Limes Will Decrease in the 2022/23 Season (Mar 2)

The 2022/23 season's global production of lemons and limes expects to be 9.270MMT, a 6.68% drop compared to 2021/22 due to lower production in Mexico, Turkey, and Argentina. Production cuts have occurred in many countries, with the lemon harvest in Mexico estimated at 2.8MMT, 5.21% less than in the previous season. Lemon production in Turkey will fall by 20% due to frost and drought, and the harvest in Argentina will be 1.77MMT. Producers explain the decline in production by increasing the cost of growing.

Lemon Importers in Japan Are Trying to Increase Prices by 10% In March 2023 (Mar 1)

Despite having less than 100K cartons of imported lemons in Japan as of late February 2023, the balance between demands and supplies has been relatively stable. Upon entering the month of March, importers are trying to raise their selling price, roughly by 10%, based on factors like removing the defective stocks from prior arrivals, and an increase in citrus consumption due to warmer weather. In addition, such approaches by the importers will be supported by forecasts of the arrival volume in March and April 2023 to stay moderate, with the termination of lemon imports from both Turkiye and mid-to-small suppliers of the US during these months.

Peru

Peru Exported 13,954T of Dehydrated Lemon Peel in 2022 (Feb 28)

The dehydrated lemon peel is one of the derived products that also has its share within Peruvian agricultural exports. The market analyst Heber Chávez purposely revealed that during 2022, our country exported this product for a total of 13,954T, showing a growth of 9% compared to 2021. Germany had a 32.5% participation rate, Spain had a 22.4% participation rate, and other destinations had a 45.1% participation rate as the primary markets for dehydrated lemon peel.

Department of Internal Trade Linked to Open a Lemon Distribution Point, Wholesale Price, Lopburi Province, the Response Trend Is Bustling in Thailand (Mar 4)

The Department of Internal Trade has joined with the Lopburi Provincial Commercial Office to reduce the cost of living for people and restaurants by linking the production of limes from Sri Muang Market and opening a wholesale point of sale in Ban Mi District, Lop Buri Province. However, entrepreneurs must display the price tag. The price of lemon products has increased due to inclement weather, and the Department visited the farmers' group in Bua Ngam Subdistrict, Damnoen Saduak District, Ratchaburi Province to examine the production situation, amount of production, and to link to distribution in various provinces. New products will gradually be released to the market further.
