There is a shortage of dates and tiger nuts in Nigeria as a result of the closure of the land borders since 2019. Nigeria augments local production by importation from neighboring West African countries like Niger.
The scarcity is expected to intensify as storage dries off.
It has also caused a hike in price across local markets in Nigeria.
