The government recently allowed the re-export of rice (not including glutinous rice) to be resumed. 400,000 tons will be exported in April 2020. However, many rice farmers are asking the government to also allow the export of glutinous rice because domestic supply is abundant while the domestic demand for glutinous rice is low. The glutinous rice inventory is building up in Vietnam and is now up to tens of thousands of tons.
