In the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, a number of paprika farmers in Batang regency in the Central Java province were able to increase their production output. These farmers were able to produce around 300 MT of paprika in the span of January to April 2020, a noteworthy increase from around 250 MT of paprika produced in the same period last year. These farmers have been using the greenhouse method to produce paprika on the higher grounds of the regency, and it is claimed to be able to lower their maintenance cost compared to using ordinary open space farming methods. These farmers also claimed that the lower production cost has also enabled them to keep the selling price of their commodity stable at IDR 35.000/Kg.
