Recently, a trade agreement has been signed between Indonesia and the Philippines that allows both countries to trade mainstay commodities with each other without entry fees. This new deal would allow the Philippines to trade its fresh cavendish banana to Indonesia, and in return, Indonesia would be able to market its instant coffee products to the Philippines. With this trade agreement underway, Indonesia would be able to ensure a steady supply of cavendish banana to meet the national demand that has reached 1000 MT/year, while at the same time, be able to have a new market destination for its national instant coffee industry.
