Vietnamese sugar producers struggle to compete imported and smuggled sugar in the domestic market

Currently, domestic sugar production cost in Vietnam is now higher than the price of imported and smuggled sugar from other ASEAN countries. However, the government is now carrying out new policies to strictly punish Vietnamese importer who purchases and merchandises smuggled sugar into Vietnam territory. The acts from the authority include an increase in market management and prevention along with the boundary to protect domestic suppliers and raise fairness in competition.
