The extreme heat that apple and pear producing regions throughout Spain have experienced during the summer of 2022 has caused a decrease in the overall size of the fruit. This is expected to result in downward harvest volume expectations for the 2022/23 season. According to suppliers, the pears and apples that will be released to the market in the 2022/23 campaign meet the same quality requirements as previous years, but they are slightly smaller. Buyers are requested to adjust their calibre requirements downwards to take into account the production situation and make sure about size availability before purchasing.
