Avocado sourcing prices have been on the rise since April and are projected to continue increasing. In April, the avocado sourcing price was USD 2.82 per 4kg box while in May the price increased to USD 3.18 per 4kg box. The price for the same 4kg box is now projected to reach as high as USD 3.82 in June and July. Meanwhile, suppliers are struggling to meet orders from clients requiring sizes 14-18. This is due to increased demand for small sizes in Europe. While the small sizes are preferred in Europe, countries like Russia prefer bigger sizes. Some exporters who stocked the small sizes in anticipation of orders from clients have ended up selling 100MT of the small sizes as rejects to avoid losses to oil processors at USD 0.09/kg.
