In W9, the Brazilian export closure for the Chinese market due to the mad cow disease case has had no impact, as Brazil is confident the suspension will be lifted quickly. Brazilian exporters were reluctant to validate offers at USD 5.5K/ton CFR for a cow in six cuts offered by Argentine exporters not willing to pay more than USD 5.2-5.3K/ton CFR. In mid-February, this product traded at around USD 4.8-4.9K/ton, CFR.
