The cherry season has been delayed due to cold weather in May. Growers now anticipate the season to start around 20-25 June with Santina and Tieton Varieties.
It is an extremely difficult season to start from several winter damage and poor pollination. The overall damage can be up to 50% in some cases.
Below is an industry estimation based on our grower intel with multiple orchards.

Southern Area: Osoyoos / Oliver
Assuming there will be only 50% productions or less. Most all varieties are affected from early variety as Chelan / Santina / Tieton to late variety Lapin and Sweetheart.

Mid South Area: Penticton / Summerland
Estimate 60% productions or less.
Variety got more effect are Lapin/Skeena/ Sweetheart.
Staccato/ Sentenniel performs a bit better in general.

Northern Area: Kelowna / Lake Country
Estimate 50% production or less.
Variety got more effect are Lapin / Skeena / Sweetheart/ Sentenniel.
Staccato/ performs better in general.

Generally across the whole valley, the damage is hit or miss. The orchards can be either 70-80% productions or down to 20-30%. One packhouse assumed 700-750 mt to export if there isn’t any more dramatic weather like last season. First quotes are now delayed until WK 26 of 2022.
