Hungary's restrictions on export of wheat affects Italian wheat market

Hungary has imposed a restriction on cereal export to EU countries to ensure coverage of its internal needs and limit the effects of price increases. An 'unfortunate' decision if not immediately withdrawn, will have devastating repercussions on the Italian milling industry, which will no longer be able to guarantee the production of soft wheat flours in the volumes required by the market. In fact, Italy imports nearly 30% of its soft wheat needs from Hungary.
