As of January 14, 2021, Taiwanese farmed fish industry has suffered from multiple waves of cold front since the late December 2020. Milkfish, tilapia and barramundi (Chinese seabass) has taken a hard hit. There’s a shortage of stock for the highly demanded fish of 500g to 800g. The mainly available sizes are either less than 600g or more than 1200g.
As stated by a local exporter, the demand for the export market has also slowed down after the holiday season’s demand and the second wave of COVID-19.
