By the beginning of February, at least two Western Australia (WA) lobster fisheries have exported their live products overseas into South Korea. This is an important step, as Australia experienced difficulty entering the Korean market due to the competitive prices of their rival Boston Lobster, imported from the US and Canada.

In WA, the largely predominant variety is the Western Rock Lobster, which is wildly caught on all the western coast. The import ban from China (representing over 90% of Australian lobster exports) has forced Australians to search for new markets with a more competitive price.
