French wine exports dramatically fell off by 13.9%. The most badly impacted wine was the king of sparkling wine: the Champagne. It dropped down by 20.5% in 2020, whose value is 6.5% more than the average wine exports. Primarily due to the Covid19 impact, Champagne export sales had a historical dump in 2020.
However, it seems that the dump is surely not over. Starting 2021, the 25% import tariff obligation requested by the US is now also applied to French wines with an alcohol level above 14%.
